Nació en 1962 en Lima. Vive y trabaja en Nueva York. Grimanesa Amorós es una artista interdisciplinaria, con diferentes intereses en campos como la historia social, la investigación científica y la teoría crítica, que han tenido gran influencia en su trabajo.A menudo utiliza la escultura, el video y la iluminación, para crear trabajos que aclaran nuestras nociones de identidad personal y de comunidad.Amorós utiliza su arte como un elemento de empoderamiento, para involucrar a espectadores de diferentes orígenes y comunidades.

AMORÓS ha recibido varias becas, que incluyen la Fundación Nacional para the National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowship (Washington, DC), The Travel Grant Fund for Artists, NEA Arts lnternational, (NewYork, NY),The Bronx Museum for the Arts:Aim Program (Bronx, NY) and The Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation “Participant Biennial Competition” (New York NY).
