ONKOCHISHIN

It is a fashion show by Japanese fashion designer Akiko Elizabeth Maie and inspired by the work of interdisciplinary artist Grimanesa Amorós. Akiko established Nepenthes Co. LTD, a globally known fashion company. In 2014 she launched her newest label AKIKO ELIZABETH MAIE.
The theme of “温故知新 ONKOCHISHIN – means discovering new horizons by researching the past.” We are made up of the past, but it is up to us how much we let it define who we are. This exploration was to take the past and re-invent and redefine how it affects our future. The only thing we can govern is our present and how we see the uncertain future. The past has already been created and developed, teaching us lessons about ourselves to improve our current and approach our future differently.
