ARTIST STATEMENT
Eclipses are both celestial and perceptual. The eclipse effect is created when a dark sphere crosses in front of a luminous sphere, or vise versa, as seen from a point in space. We can experience two kinds of eclipses, lunar and solar, but both involve three spheres: Sun, Earth, and Moon, each with independent velocities yet bound by gravity, creating a perfect orbital relationship. Of course, the Moon regulates the tides of the ocean but also shifts our continents. This shifting is what creates volcanoes and geysers which are the key ingredients to creating life. We owe our very existence to this powerful relationship.
