To create large-scale sculptures, I must understand how our environment affects our state of mind. My site-specific light sculpture SCIENTIA engages visitors in a dialogue with architecture and community. Therefore, the work encourages moments of realization while creating connections through light.
The project’s name SCIENTIA comes from Latin and is defined as knowledge. However, the word implies a socially interactive activity; the seeking and sharing of wisdom. This artwork will explore the human connection using our elemental understanding of the world—fire, water, earth, and light. Because of this primordial immersion, SCIENTIA provides a means of accessing our emotional selves. Thus, the work nurtures well-being and promotes community engagement.
Descripción: LED light tubes interact with the Atrium of Cultures by twisting around the pillars in the room. Therefore, the light sculpture engages viewers in a dialogue with the architecture.
