The Hohokam people were one of the first to utilize irrigation canals. Because of their engineering, they improved access to water and enhanced their inhabitants’ lives.

GOLDEN WATERS,  a large-scale temporary light-based installation, takes inspiration from Arizona’s natural and man-made canals. In order to create the project, I conjoined the spine of the Soleri Bridge with light tubing structures.

I take interest in how bodies react to environmental conditions. As a result of our connection to nature, one can feel the presence of the water and nature just by standing next to it. Through harnessing this, the piece will rise from the canal waters, as if it were one with the canal.  Thus, lines of the piece represent the balance between urban and natural forces.

Descripción: AGUAS DE ORO is a monumental light sculpture installation on the water commissioned by scottsdale Public Art in Scottsdale, Arizona. The work consists of LED lighting tubes and a custom-made lighting sequence that floats atop the water, conjoined with the Paolo Soleri Bridge.
