For OnSite Katonah, Grimanesa Amorós presents bubble-like sculptures that appear to float in the darkened gallery. She constructs her own islands from polycarbonate and LED lights that shift in color to create glowing, futuristic forms. The works suggest the material innovation of both the Uros people and modern invention, while marrying the organic and technological. The artist has carefully positioned the sculptures and calibrated the gallery’s lighting to transform the space into a moody, immersive environment.
