Encountering passersby, mesmerizing them with paper sculptures and the translucent spheres for which she has become known.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\r\n\u003Ch4>\u003Cstrong>\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Tribeca Issey Miyake\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh4>\r\n\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">Though Tribeca Issey Miyake is hardly a vast, open space typical of interventionist art, in her new installation at the \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fen.wikipedia.org\u002Fwiki\u002FIssey_Miyake\">Japanese designer’s\u003C\u002Fa> boutique the sculptures certainly confront new viewers and easily mix fashion and fine art. The buoyant, effulgent bubbles create a wonderful tension with the store’s exoskeletal atmosphere designed by \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fen.wikipedia.org\u002Fwiki\u002FFrank_Gehry\">Frank Gehry\u003C\u002Fa>. As well as the perfectly pleated fashions on display. The installation continues her “Uros” series. I have always worked with subject matters that relate to my personal experience. What are the anthropological and sociological currents running through the work?\u003C\u002Fem>\u003Cem> \u003C\u002Fem>\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fh4>\r\n\u003Cp style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u003Cspan style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: helvetica, arial, sans-serif;\">\u003Cstrong>GA:\u003C\u002Fstrong> \u003Ca href=\"\u002Fpubliccommission\u002Ftribeca-issey-miyake-new-york-ny\u002F\">Uros\u003C\u002Fa> was inspired by the \u003Ca href=\"http:\u002F\u002Fen.wikipedia.org\u002Fwiki\u002FUru_people\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Uros Islands\u003C\u002Fa> in Lake Titicaca, located in the southeast of Peru. They are floating islets made entirely out of totora reeds, a subspecies of the giant bulrush sedge. The pre-Incan Uros, who live on forty-two self-fashioned floating islands in Lake Titicaca, build everything out of this material. Everything ranges from houses to boats to watchtowers. I created Uros to reflect the natural elegance of sea foam and totora reeds. Tribeca Issey Miyake is very dear to me.
