In the diversity of formats and media used, the Peruvian artist based in New York, explores organic forms to inquire human psychology. Silhouettes, colors, textures and sounds build a sensory experience where the spectator is the main focus.
Multifaceted, multicultural, multidisciplinary. Grimanesa Amorós (Lima, Peru, 1962) manages to translate the different dialectics that gestate inside, through the development of sophisticated art works that challenge one of the major issues of our time: the identity. And it is that the origin of the artist is a com- plementary datum, considering that at an early age she decided to emigrate to New York, and that today spends much of the time traveling around the world to attend fairs and visual encounters. When she speaks, the language changes indistinctly, alternating English and Spanish naturally. It is, at first glance, the reflection of the new America.
En la diversidad de formatos y soportes que utiliza, la artista peruana radicada en Nueva York explora formas orgánicas para indagar en la psicología humana. Siluetas, colores, texturas y sonidos construyen una experiencia sensorial donde el espectador es un eje fundamental.
Multifacética, multicultural, multidisciplinaria. Grimanesa Amorós (Lima, Perú, 1962) logra traducir las diferentes dia- lécticas que se gestan en su interior, mediante la elaboración de sofisticadas obras de arte que cuestionan uno de los grandes temas de nuestro tiempo: la identidad. Y es que el origen de la artista es un dato complementario, considerando que a temprana edad de- cidió emigrar a Nueva York, y que hoy pasa gran parte del tiempo viajando alrededor del mundo para asistir a ferias y encuentros vi- suales. Cuando habla, el uso del lenguaje cambia indistintamente, alternando inglés y castellano con naturalidad. Es, a primera vista, el reflejo de la nueva América.
