You can find her works in New York, Scottsdale, Miami, Basel, Madrid and other cities. Amorós is an interdisciplinary artist who has diverse interests in such fields as scientific research, history, and critical theory. Before installing LED light sculptures, she likes to research locations as well as their history, culture, and community. This helps her create an organic artwork that does not interrupt the natural flow of local life and events. Amorós likes to combine art and technology that’s why her LED installations incorporate complex lighting, sculpture, and modern high-tech elements. She exhibited her works in the USA, Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

LED light sculpture as a public art

Public art is usually site-focused, and it is meant to be shared with others in order to generate a dialogue with either its surroundings or a community. A public art should be a part of a natural landscape or surrounding architecture. Nowadays, LED light installations have become a very popular choice of innovative and open-minded designers and investors. This type of artwork enhances public spaces, evokes emotions and contributes to the overall aesthetics of sites.

Grimanesa Amorós often receives invitations to install LED pieces of art in public spaces. If you were in New York City, you might have already seen some of her works. Among them are Hedera in Brooklyn borough, Argentum on White Street, Pink Lotus installed above the entrance of the Peninsula hotel, and others. Amorós has also created such prominent public pieces of art as Golden Waters in Scottsdale and Racimo in Finland. Each public installation she created has a certain meaning and symbolism behind it.

LED light sculptures as a part of modern interiors

Nowadays, LED sculptures and installations are often used to enhance and modernize the interiors of office buildings, museums, art centers, and other public buildings. Amorós eagerly accepts invitations to work on such projects as well. The LED sculpture artist has already completed a number of projects of this type. One of them is Aurora installation created for Tribeca Issey Miyake headquarters in New York. This lighting project was inspired by the Northern Lights. It was aimed at encouraging people to contemplate and experience ordinary things like the light in a different way. Another great example of a LED installation in an office environment is Terraforms, the project created for an advertising agency in Miami. It was inspired by the terraforming practice and scientific theory. Its main purpose was to encourage viewers to reflect on the impact of natural environments on human history. Breathless Maiden lane installation was featured in NYC’s financial district. It reflects the excitement and energy of the city as well as invites viewers to discover Maiden Lane in a new way.
