In 2013, renowned artist Grimanesa Amorós presented the LITE Center Artist Lecture at the Louisiana Immersive Technologies Enterprise (LITE Center) in Lafayette, Louisiana. During her talk, Amorós shared insights into her acclaimed light sculpture, UROS HOUSE, and other notable works. She explored the intersection of art, technology, and immersive experiences, offering a fresh perspective on contemporary art.

Amorós explained how her installations transform spaces and engage viewers. She emphasized the importance of integrating art into technological environments. Her ability to merge art, science, and emotion resonated deeply with the audience.

The event highlighted the transformative power of art in fostering innovation and dialogue. Amorós’s work aligns with LITE Center’s mission to promote interdisciplinary collaboration and creativity. Her lecture left a lasting impression on attendees, inspiring them to think creatively and critically.

The LITE Center is the world’s first and only data visualization facility created as a public/private partnership. Located at the Research Park of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, it is a political subdivision of the State of Louisiana. Governed by a board of commissioners, LITE is a hub for innovation and creative collaboration.

(00:29) Welcome to the Light Arts Center. This is part of the lecture of the art and technology by the innovators. Today we are fortunate to have one of the well-known artists, Grimanesa Amorós.

(00:47) She has done a lot of talk all over the country and the world. Thank you for the opportunity that both of you have given me to be here.

(01:14) Are those reflections on the domes or are those LEDs inside? …So it’s very velvety, the structure, the interior of the piece that it is. To simplify it, it’s just an animation. The sculpture looks very different than in the LITE Arts Center. …Because the silkscreen of Uros House, the pattern is reflected.

(01:41) What is the flow? For example, how many LEDs? You know, it depends on the project. I think that for everybody of us, for architects, for curators, it depends, you know, the bigger the project, the more maybe wonders, you know, you could create.
