Grimanesa Amorós is an interdisciplinary artist. Diverse interests in the fields of social history, scientific research and critical theory have greatly influenced her work. Through her art she addresses universal themes of concern to contemporary individuals, such as the relationship between man and nature, personal and social identities, and gender issues. Using various media including video, photography, sculpture and installations, her work becomes a powerful vehicle promoting diversity and dialogue among cultures. Grimanesa Amorós was born in Lima, Peru, in 1962. She lives and works in New York, USA and in Peru.
