LVMH Tower 2026 | Lighting Up the World

Moderator:
Jessica Miller, Vice President of External Relations at LVMH Inc.

Invited by Jessica Miller, Grimanesa Amorós spoke at LVMH headquarters in New York City on how light art transforms an environment. Drawing on her work across public commissions, cultural institutions, and architectural landmarks, she discussed how light shapes the way people move through and experience a space, and how artists and institutions use it to communicate with their audiences.

The lecture explored the intersection of art and storytelling, and the role both play in how institutions present themselves to the world. Amorós spoke about her approach to creating large-scale installations, the considerations that guide each site-specific work, and the ways an environment can shape what an audience feels and remembers before anything is said.

(0:22) Good morning to everyone, and thank you, Jessica, for your very kind introduction.

(0:29) I want to share with you my journey as an artist.

(0:33) But how do I do my lighting sequences? So they are not from algorithms or from any database.

(0:39) Radiance merges light and space to create an experience that transcends the tale of Prometheus.

(0:46) Both in the space and immerse themselves in the architectural environment is very important.

(0:51) Very interesting rigging system under all these lines of LEDs.

(0:58) Building, which is the clock tower, is an iconic landmark building, which actually took about eight months just to get the permit.

(1:06) They had another, obviously, many layers of symbolisms.

(1:11) This is about 18, 20 minutes, and have in mind that you are just looking about probably maybe 30 seconds.

(1:23) That’s like another tower that you see in the back. Over time, they start having thousands of little fishes all over.

(1:33) Thank you so much for your time.

(1:54) When you’re working with light every day, somehow it becomes part of your life, and it makes you very transparent, and it makes you very perceptive. Thank you.
