The first time Grimanesa Amoros laid her eyes upon a lotus flower, renowned throughout history for symbolizing enlightenment, purity, and boundless abundance, was during her visit to Shanghai. As she beheld the delicate petals unfurling, revealing their ethereal beauty, she felt an immediate connection to the profound essence of this mesmerizing flower. Its enchanting form and graceful movements left an indelible imprint on her artistic sensibilities.

For Amoros, the idea of balance goes beyond mere physical equilibrium; it is a spiritual principle that anchors her artistic work. It serves as a guiding force, shaping her perspective and perception of the natural world and its intricate landscapes. By embracing the transformative power of balance, her art becomes a conduit for contemplation, inviting viewers to experience their own moments of enlightenment.

Amoros seeks to capture the harmonious dance between light and darkness, stillness and motion, fragility and strength.
